Sunshine on a Rainy Day

OK so rainy day is probably an understatement…. last night we had a huge storm with trees down all over, flooded roads and the main rail link in to the county washed away by the sea.  We Muleteers have been busy sheltering indoors and staying out of the squidgy mud, Roller is worried he might even blow away as he's so small!

But there was a glimmer of hope today, Roller and Dragon provided their very own expression of hope, a little ray of sunshine that Spring may arrive eventually.

Yes folks, they have both decided it's time to start shedding their winter coats :-)  Hooray for that!  FH is looking forward to months of shedding out Roller's thick duvet coat, he starts in February and we're still going in June ready for him to regrow in August.

So there you have it folks the Muleteers have declared that Spring must be on the way so let's hope Mother Nature is listening.  The Mini?  Well The Mini is sensibly hanging on to his woolies for a while yet, he takes after the donkey side of the family on this one and will hold on to his coat until it's at least a balmy 20 C!

Hope all of our friends are surviving this awful weather, we have at least three more days on the way.  We're grateful for our warm beds, roof over our heads and food on demand.  FH is grateful to be growing fast but still mobile and happily tending her Muleteer Masters :-)

Sending you soggy snuffles and windswept neighbrays for a safe week ahead.

  1. I am glad to see even this tiny hint of spring, even if it is an ocean away. I am sorry to hear about the terrible storms you are having, i have seen some of the pictures of the waves - so terrible. It's been a rough winter all around.

    1. Yay for shedding, I have no idea why the humans find it so tedious… surely they like sharing in all my hairy goodness?

  3. My beautifull Roller, may I have some silky silvery down for my Rollerhat?. Ah, wondrous coat, you are a true polar bear all toasty in midwinter :-) Mini always wise on the safe side till it is really warm. Callie, mi reina, you have such a thick coppery coat, love the hint of your Cruz del Sur.

Awful wet weather upon you, hope you live far away from the shoreline and that everyone around is safe indoors. We are buried in a huge snowstorm after a swath of -20C days; there were many emergency calls about equines in distress outdoors, with one particular rescue very emotive, featured in my blog. Hope the sun shines back soon on your velvety ears!. Stay dry and safe commanding the Muleteer Universe :-)

Cuddles and ear tickles to all

    1. Dearest Carmen, I shall save you some of my finest Roller down :-) We are a fair way from the coast, about 10 miles and have managed to stay warm, dry and safe. Lots of our local friends have been struggling with the weather, it seems to be causing chaos all over the planet. We hope your snow has abated and that you are all staying safe on that side of the water!

Sending you warming snuffles, defrosting neighbrays and drying ear waves :-) xxx

  6. It is raining here in the east too - feels as if it will never end. But we have not suffered anywhere near as badly as our friends in the west. My sympathies go out to you.
But the pictures of your coat did indeed cheer me up. I would LOVE to get my fingers into your coat and help tease out the fluff.
Hope that The Mini and Dragon and your doggy friends are well too. Glad to hear that FH is doing well.
With lots of strokes from Judy in Cambridge

    1. We're all managed to stay safe in this horrible weather, the west sure seems to have taken its fair share of weather, we are grateful for sloping land that doesn't flood (if its a little muddy!), a roof over our heads (even if a little dilapidated!) and plenty of tasty morsels to eat! The six month long job to shed out the Roller coat has truly begun, hope I've got my timing right though and we don't get late snow!

Sending snuffles, neighbrays and ear waves :-) xxxx

    1. Oh the joy! I understand! Why does hair always get in your mouth, up your nose, in to every piece of clothing you own…. hmmm oh well rather be grooming an equine than doing most other things in life :-) FH
