Mates!

Spring is in the air, the grass is getting green and we're shedding our winter coats! FH is despairing of the effect a moulting mule can have on a clean fleece jacket, we reckon the mule hair look is in for this season?

We have been a little bit busy so getting our hooves on the blogging technology has been a bit challenging! But we are all doing great :-)

We love this time of year! The nights are drawing out so we see more of the humans in the daylight, the sunshine warms our backs and there is more time for fun.  Dragon is enjoying some lovely rides, us minis are loving our endless fuss from the Human Foal and MH and FH and generally we are just enjoying being together.

Our happy little herd of mates is about as perfect as it gets we reckon, we are quite happy to share the tiniest slice of green that our humans provide… they are a bit mean!

We're off for some sun bathing and day dreaming… Roller dreams of shoes, the Mini dreams of banana skins and Dragon is dreaming of her next adventure….

Take care folks!

Teaching Her All We Know...

The perfect way to spend a day...
Phew it's been a bit busy!

We've been busily teaching HF all we know about life here at Muleteer HQ.  HF is just the most brilliant pupil (we think she might be a secret mule, her ears are in disguise), she is learning quickly and we enjoy our daily lessons with her, we chat while FH does the clean up duty.

So we've been teaching HF about the essentials in life...

Eating

Oh yes this is the important one HF.  Food is to be enjoyed in abundance.  As we understand HF is neighbraying for more food on a regular basis and can't get enough, well she is a growing girl isn't she?  Hopefully not growing too much though as we want her to stay small enough to ride us minis for a while yet!

Sleeping

HF has adopted Roller's art of sleeping and is very good at this skill.  She sleeps and sleeps and sleeps some more, she's not fussy where she sleeps either, although limpet attached to a human seems to be a favourite, I wonder what the humans would think to having a limpet mini mule asleep on their chests??

Windy Pops!

Oops, this is something that The Mini has been discussing with HF, he is the King of windy pops and appears to have explained the skill well to HF.  People stand back in amazement at the decibels of disgrace issued by the cute little HF.... she's mini mule trained you know ;-)

Pooping

Hmmm ok in a similar vain we've taught HF about the joys of liberally spreading poop everywhere.... Dragon has been trying to teach HF about being tidy, nah, us minis have persuaded her that liberal quantities and spreading are best!

Looking Cute

Oh yeah we muleteers have this one off perfectly and it seems our foal has mastered the art too, wait a go baby, this ensures excellent service from the big humans :-)

How could the humans resist us cuties?!

Work…

Well Dragon has been trying to extol the benefits of work to HF but it would seem that HF is not keen on doing 'mule work' and has decided that she will be the one hitching rides on the big humans for the moment…. we like the look of that carrier thing, do they make a mini mule sized one?  What do you mean I'm too heavy?!  The good thing is that FH can tend to our needs (hehe muck out) whilst carrying HF, teaching them young is good and ermmm well it's good exercise for FH!

Diesel has been trying her own version of the cling-on.... no one told her that clinging to FH's foot is not quite the same thing?!

And Finally…..

We Muleteers see our duty in life is to make people happy!  It would seem that HF has also adopted a similar motto, she is such a good HF we almost forget she is a human…. maybe it's because we taught her all we know? Yep we're taking full credit!

We can hear the summoning neighbray of HF, it is suspiciously like lunchtime... actually every hour is lunchtime in HF's world (girl off to our own heart!) so we better go tend to her.  FH! Come quick!

Everyone's At It!

So as if it's not enough the the humans are having foals it seems that some of our neighbourly Blue Tits are also busy with their foals right next to our bedrooms, no wonder there's been a lot of tweeting to disturb our sleep....

Always busy, busy, busy!

Flitting here and there, busy with caterpillars and worms they are a blur of blue and yellow, blink and you'll miss them.... especially if you blink as slowly as Roller.... but then why rush?!

We haven't met the new Blue Tit Foals yet - come on birdies, Human Foal came to say hi the day after she arrived, my tiny hooves are tapping!  In the meantime I really must talk to FH about doing some housework for these guys, their cobweb issues are appalling!

Sunny Happy Baby

Spring has definitely arrived at Muleteer HQ… it has taken the form of a certain little lady Human Foal.    This Sunny Happy Baby has brought the most delightful of weather to us all, we think we'll keep her ;-)

HF has been busy checking out her kingdom, we're pleased to see that she has ensured plenty of blossom on the apple tree so that us Muleteers will have a plentiful bounty of snacks in the Autumn….

She has brought Dragon blue skies for sunbathing in and showing off those mulificent ears against!  Dragon is VERY happy with her new charge and is insisting on greeting HF with happy mule chuckles whenever she appears… Dragon it may be a while until she's up to riding you!

And of course not to be left out the canine furries are enjoying their new charge too and guarding her well….. hmmm Milo is the guardian of the hand lick and nappy snuffle (ick!)

Murph is wondering what next?!  He has just finished bringing up the puppy to some form of adulthood (yeah right….) and now his has a new charge to pull on his ears and guard, no one is getting past this saggy Cloth Dog.  Oh well the life of a labrador is hard but he has broad shoulders and life is good :-)

Our humans would like us to thank you all for your lovely comments and wishes, they are very happy to share their new addition with you all, sorry for not replying to everyone individually - normal service will resume in a little while!  In the meantime sending you all a wish for a slice of our happiness, we're off to sing some nursery rhymes..... we're pretty good at Old MacDonald's Farm in this house!

And as for Human Foal?  Well it's all a little tiring so she's off for a nap.....

Eviction Notice: Issued…..

…… and thoroughly ignored!

Come on Human Foal, you are now officially late (yes, yes we know this is nothing new in this household) and The Whale is getting impatient and grumpy and so are we! We're bored of waiting now…. it's been a long 9 months…..

We are waiting for you to arrive so that we can all play, the weather's good, the grass is green and we're ready to entertain you…. so what do you say?  How about coming out to say hi?  We know it's nice and toasty warm in your barn and you are happy demanding ice cream and blueberries but we got plans.

We got plans for rides and walks and teaching you all the best mischief, Dragon would also like to borrow a slimmer version of FH for a ride or two soon…. we have a feeling FH might quite like that too.

So there we go, our plea, may it fall on your mule sized ears (we can hope right?!), out you come, what are you waiting for - there's fun to be had ;-)

Love Knows No Size!

Love is in the air at Muleteer HQ!  It would seem that a certain Dragon lady is feeling frisky… and itchy and has decided that I, The Mini am her beau of the moment.   Well I may be small in stature but I am ever willing to dole out the love to my 'big bird' as I affectionately call her…. (for my non-UK friends a 'bird' is a tongue in cheek term for a lady friend!)

Don't worry my friends, she may look like she's eating me with those monster teeth but we're actually giving each other a mule style massage, so nice at this time of year when you're all itchy and scratchy, it does wonders for the complexion!

Uh oh it looks like we've been rumbled, ok, ok FH yes I still love you too and I know I'm cheating just a little but Dragon does give a firmer massage than you! Although I have to say it would be nice if Dragon learnt to stand down the slope not up it, when you're vertically challenged you need all the help to reach you can get :-(

There's only one thing when you're this small, the view from below can sometimes be a little odd, I seem to see a lot of the underside of Dragon's chin… at least it's a pretty chin ;-)

The Whale and The Wheelbarrow….

Spotted! Somewhere in the Devon countryside…. a whale like creature (possibly a mammal but a long way from its natural sea environment)…..

And what's this we see?  The Whale knows how to operate a wheelbarrow?

Oh oops, wait a minute folks.  It appears that the Whale is in fact FH….. and she's giving us the exasperated look….. and she's muttering about emptying our stinky beds ready for the Spring.

Dragon, quick, act nonchalant and like you haven't noticed.  Otherwise you might end up having to carry the whale!  Yep that's right, nothing to see here.

What's that about us being extremely rude mules FH?  We're sure you taught us all the cheekiness we know……

Hmmm FH beware you look like you might pop?  Actually we heard that you might want that? Any minute now maybe?  Hurry up Human Foal, we're all getting impatient!  We know you are not due for 2 weeks but us Muleteers can hope can't we?

The Orange Loving Mules!

Squawky, neighbrays, eeyore-whinny….. ermm FH come here with that orange will you!

Mules love oranges!
We like oranges - A LOT! Well actually I like the sweet juicy inside bit and The Mini likes the sour outside peel, well of course that's the right way round girls and sweet and boys sour?!

No, no, no, not the peel, it's not what I want!

That's better the sweet juicy bit, hmmm must try to miss the fingers, best not bite the hand that feeds me...

Hang on a minute, I didn't think sharing was on the agenda, The Mini is after my orangey goodness

So do mini mules, hmmm!

And so it seems is FH.  Disgraceful behaviour! There's no point trying to hide the fact that you've just eaten most of my orange FH. Bashful you many look, indeed!

What do you mean it's all gone!  Just one job left to do, slurp, slurp lick those sticky fingers clean. Mmmm, mmmm, gently does it but oh it tastes nice :-)

Pretty orange mule highlights

I've got to say I rather like these orangey things, and don't you think it has brought out the carroty highlights in my nose?  I'm starting to shed my wintery fluff, the humans say I'm looking more like a pretty princess than a prehistoric pony? I think there's a compliment in there somewhere?

Have a squawking good weekend friends!

Dragon xxx

p.s. FH says we have to tell you that this is a real treat and not something we're allowed regularly…. boohoo!

Spring Shots

We're so pleased that it sounds like Spring has arrived for our friends around the world - phew!  We all really needed it!  Today is wet and dismal here so we thought we'd remind ourselves that lurking underneath the rain are the true signs of Spring here at Muleteer HQ! Here are a few of our favourite shots of Spring from this week :-)

Our neighbours are back with their Spring Lambys!

The jackdaws are busy building their nests

They have been busily carrying away bits of Roller fur, straw, grass and mud for their nests…. we're happy to donate!

We're all busy moulting out our coats…. and looking a little moth eaten!

Roller is busy…. Rolling!  He likes a good roll in the mud to dislodge some of his copious fluff at this time of year.  It feels SO GOOD!

The plants are busy growing and blooming, mmmm tasty!

And FH has been busy seeding and feeding our paddocks with pony safe fertiliser, she says we've done a fairly good job of trashing it over the winter so it needs some help.  Anyway she needs the exercise if you know what we mean ;-)

We're all looking forward to the next days of Spring soon.  At the moment we're sheltering inside as it's raining and horrible, our poor Puppy friend had to have a hoperation yesterday on his wounded leg so we hope he's well soon - poor Milo, he is rather accident prone, alas the sight of the rain outside is stopping him from going stir crazy, some small comfort!

Have a lovely weekend, hope Spring is visiting you :-)
