If Dogs Could Smile

Greetings Friends!  Well of course we can smile!  I heard the humans say if dogs could smile the Cloth Dog would be, duh well look at me.... I'm smiling!

Yippee, hooray, it's a Dartmoor doggy day!  My favourite place in the world for a lovely winter walk.  The sun was shining, the bushes were ripe for sniffing and peeing on and my naughty puppy was occupied with dashing and playing and chasing.

I always know when we're in luck and about to escort the humans on to the moor..... we head up this little track.  The edges are great for sniffing and it's definitely a doggy racetrack, Milo might be fast but I make up for his speed with experience.

He is rather prone to prancing and dancing and forgetting which way he's supposed to be going...

I think he rather enjoys running around in the long moorland grass!

I have to keep my wits about me as he is prone to flybys at great speed.  Oops this photo shows that even the inside of my ears are going grey, honestly folks if you had to bring up this pup and look after the humans your ears would be grey too!

There's always time for a quick look at the view in amongst running around. Sometimes we'll explore far and wide over those hills but today we made do with a bit of a meander, splash and soak up of the sun - it feels great on my back :-)

Just when I was enjoying the view it came from nowhere... beep, beep, zoom! Come back here rascal!

Have you ever seen such funny ears on a pup? Tehehe they rather make me smile just looking at them.....

One final thing before we head home.  I've spied a little bit of a swimming spot, time for some peace and quiet in the chilly water - one place the puppy won't follow! Something about it being cold, he needs to grow a labrador coat, no worries here!

You know what folks?  Us dogs definitely can smile.... I'm doing it right here, loving being a Dartmoor Dog.

Woofs and Wags everyone, have a lovely weekend.  I'm looking forward to an afternoon snuggled with my mistress bonding with my next pup in the making, babysitter Murph at the ready.... I've heard that my ears will make the best baby comforter..... ah well guess I can cope ;-) I wonder if Human Foal will call me their Cloth Dog too?  I sure hope so!

Fighting the Festive Spread

Now I don't mean to be rude FH but errrm well you look like you've eaten one too many chocolates over the festive period, I think you have put on a few festive pounds around the middle..... you know the bit that you are always saying wobbles on me, well now the wobble's on you!

Whilst you've had us minis on a strict fat fighters diet you seem to have neglected to take the same advice on board for yourself.  Typical human, what double standards!

We know Christmas is all about the food, and more food and friends and family but now it's nearly New Year and we need to think about getting you back in shape..... this may take a while.

So here I am ready for action, fancy a festive walk?

I heard you got new walking boots for Christmas from MH?  Yes, very nice, now let's go try them out up the lanes and on to the moor to look at the view and maybe have a wee munch on some grass (me not you!)

Up and off we go, I spy with my little eye some monster sheep in the distance. Can we please go do some herding FH, can we huh? Quicker come on, let's canter!  Honestly, keep up! What do you mean you can't go this fast? Ooops you are rather out of puff....

Just at this very moment a galloping horse came round the bend chased by a canine companion, oh and yes there was a human on board.  If only I was a little taller FH we could do that and then you wouldn't be out of puff.  The horse got a little fright when it saw us, anyone would think it's never seen a mini mule before..... come to think of it, it probably hasn't.  After the runaway horse calmed down we could go on our way.

A lovely look at the blue sky view with the sea in the distance, we've had great weather today although we've got more heavy rain and high winds coming tonight and in to next week so best make the most of it!

Alas I think it's time to take our tired feet home, don't want to overdo it too much, I can hear the others calling for us.... Dragon sounds like an asthmatic Darth Vader with her funny voice, best go save the neighbours from her rendition of 'Mini Come Back'!

Going back home is always so much easier, come on FH your extra pounds will help gravity to wobble you down the hill!

Wait though! What's this I sniff?  A careless walker has dropped their apple core right in the middle of the lane!  How very wasteful!  Well have no fear clear up Mini is here!

Nom, nom, nom, mmmm don't mind this clearing up thing at all actually; all apple cores, banana skins and orange peel welcome!

Well that was a fun little jaunt on a sunny day.  Now then FH hope you've been thinking about your New Year's resolutions?  A few less chocolates maybe? Not to mention a few more Mini walks please ;-)

Hope you all had a fabulous festive time friends!  Sorry for our lack of blogging, the human was too busy stuffing her face and celebrating to bring up the required laptop!

No doubt we'll be seeing you all soon in the New Year - Neighbrays to you!

Chasing Superheroes!

Dearest Muleteers, there have been superhero sightings in the area!  Spotted late yesterday evening was a rather short Batman and a towering Robin!  The strangest things happen on my walks......

Is that Batman and Robin?
There I was out for a walk with Cat Woman, having a little picnic. Mmmmmm tasty!

It's always nice to catch up with Cat Woman, she is ready to pounce on any unsuspecting villain  (mainly those dastardly mice!)

Cat Woman was happy looking out for crime and kitty cat stuff when all of a sudden she purred in my ear..... Mini there appear to be some caped crusaders up ahead!

Those shadow creatures look a lot like the superheroes Batman and Robin, Batman is a little shorter than I remember, but those ears are definitely his!  Why are they here?

So I closed in on those super heroes! Come back here, who needs a Batman when you can have SuperMini!

That's when I realised it was just me and FH playing at shadow people.  No need for alarm we are safe from harm, no super heroes needed.  Time to carry on with our little walk, I love a good meander with my girls.  What could be finer than a picnic, a chat and some gentle exercise.  It's the best way to pass some time..  In true Roller fashion I have a little quote for you, you may have heard it before but it is one of my favourites.  It's always nice to walk the path of life with true friends, there's no need for superheroes here :-)

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

Walking The Mini Mule

Hey Catanian!  Let's take FH for a walk!  She needs to keep fit and it's a lovely evening so I think it's only fair that we take her out to see what's happening don't you?

You should never pass up the opportunity for a walk with good friends, especially when the sun shines, the grass is green and there is mischief to be made ;-)

Let's drag FH up the lane to go check out what's happening in the neighbrayhood.

Who says that going for a walk is only for the canine members of the clan?  I see no reason that walking a mini mule and his feline friend is not more common?  Anyway we're in charge of the human so off we go.

Come on Mini hurry up!  Stop stuffing your face all the time....

I'm walking and eating, walking and eating, now who's left behind Catanian, stop chasing the small furries in the hedge, you've already had dinner.. I however, am starving! Mmmm loving the dandelions!

Yum!  These primroses look tasty too....mmmm..... FH is so mean with the green stuff at home, it's so nice to take her out for a picnic!  Now what's next on the menu? Hey Catanian get off FH's feet will you!  I've got places to go, plants to eat and you're holding me up!

What do you mean you'll try standing on my feet too?  You pesky kitty what are you doing playing under my tummy???  Hmmmmmmm..........

OK enough of this lack of concentration, let's go check out the grass down here, it looks yummy! What are you doing in that drainage pipe kitty?

Hey come back here, stop taking the shortcut to the next field down that pipe!

It's not fair I won't fit.... come back here! Pesky cat..... Oh well time for some more munching.

Well if Catanian's taking the shortcut I better get my walking trousers on and drag FH up this hill, care to join me for a stroll?

Oh look! Lots of big cattle, their ears are quite lacking though aren't they?  Hope my kitty cat's careful, her shortcut takes her through their field!

Ah, phew!  Here she is... that cat has 9 million lives, she seems to think if she lives with us mules those cow things are nothing to be afraid of!

Time for home now girls, what a nice way to spend a sunny evening, I'm never one to turn down an invitation for a walk, seems the girls aren't either.... same time tomorrow?
