Milo's First Swim!

Hey Cloth Dog, look at me I'm in the water!  It's such a lovely, warm Spring day this is a great way to cool down.  My legs are a little bit cold though…

What do you mean that this isn't swimming?  And I need to get all my body under…. hmmm, I'm not really sure but guess when my Big Brother tells me something's ok I should give it a go right?

Yikes! Oh My DOG!  You did not tell me it would be this cold and Clother where's the ground?  Quick get me out of here, I'm a thin skinned, stilt legged lurcher not a padded, waterproof labrador!  Whatever were you thinking?!

Must try to climb out as quickly as possible!

Oh VERY cold, not liking it. Quick, run away!

No Clother, no, not more water. No need to be generous with it, I've had enough water!

Gee whizz, you're like a big sponge Cloth Dog! It's a wonder you don't sink!

I'm cold and wet and need to go home now, I need to tell someone of my trauma that will understand how awful things were….. poor me!

Oh yes a little snuggle in the sunshine will do the trick.

I tell you what Human Foal or Space Invader or whatever your name is… that swimming thing is not to be recommended.  You stick with me and I'll keep you dry…. although I can't guarantee to not lick your face ;-)

Time to Start Shaving....

Greetings Wooferteers!  FH has started to make noises about my beard... she says it’s nearly time for me to start shaving like a big boy (I think she’s joking?).  I does keep reminded her I is a pups and that I am growing my beard in order to store food in for the lean minutes that she don’t feed me..... honestly I only get four meals a day and snacks, you humans is mean on the foody front.   No wonder I has to take matters in to my own paws some days!  I have developed a taste for milk cartons, snails, wood, sheep poop, pony poop, grass (if it’s good enough for the biggest dogs in the family I thought it’d be ok for me, it’s pretty tricky to eat though?) and well, ermmm anything really, the more FH tells me not to eat something the more I think she’s trying to hide it’s hidden nutritional delights! Always worth the taste test.

So there we have it, I have been growing my beard to keep me warm, store food and look distinguished (that's what MH says so it must be true?).  I have even developed some impressive ‘cheek mice’ as MH likes to call them, I reckon he is proper jealous, FH has banned him from having any, I feel well special!

I have decided though that I might stop there with my hairiness, I have discovered that to run fast I need to stay smooth in all other dimensions so I am willing my beardy fur to stay on my face and legs only... I know I look a little errrm different with my patchy coat but hey if it works?
I have learnt what my legs are for now.... zooooommmm, blink and you will indeed miss me.  I can outpace my cloth dog easy (although his brakes are better than mine so he still gets the ball most times) and I terrify FH whenever possible with my speedy ‘beep beep’ fly pasts when she is deep in thought on our walks (hopefully she is thinking about MY next meal).
Super speedy lurcher pups!
Got it this time, haha, you won't catch me Cloth Dog!
One last important thing to report my friends.  I have been working on the posing.  My Cloth Dog is the expert at this.  He does the ‘hang dog look’ good, the ‘aren’t I handsome look’, the ‘oh my god I’m starved’ look and finally the ‘someone tell the puppy to leave me alone’ look (he doesn’t mean it, I’m sure of this).

Handsome!

Handsomer?  I'll keep trying!
Do you think I got my, ‘aren’t I handsome with this beard’ look down?  Shame I got some food on my nose.... oh well, waste not want not....

Beep, beep, zoooooom...... catch ya later fans.... or maybe not unless you can run as quick as me :-)

This Bed Ain't Big Enough For The Both of Us

Greetings Woofeteers!! Sleep, play, eat, sleep, play eat..... golly it's a hard life!  I have been such a busy puppy making friends and influencing people (the puppy dog eyes work a treat ;-) that when I get a quiet hour or two with the Cloth Dog I am just exhausted!  Have I told you before I love my Cloth Dog?  He's my hero!  This means that at every opportunity I have to be as close to him as possible.  He is very fluffy and is so lovely to snuggle up to, his ears make exceptionally good chew toys and I really like to wrestle with him.

There is just one problem with all of this.....I don't like sleeping in my own bed.....

I would much rather sleep in the same bed as my Cloth Dog.  This has started to pose some problems as I have been growing just a tiny little bit and the Cloth Dog has been sending pained looks to the humans....

Try as I did I just couldn't quite get comfy except for when lying on top of the Cloth Dog who got grumpy after a while, he said I was making his paws go to sleep?

Finally the humans got the hint!  Off MH set to the shops to purchase the biggest bed he could find.....

He did good!  He was stopped in the car park of the pet store by someone who wanted to know what kind of dog could possibly be big enough to fill the monster bed, a Great Dane, a Bull Mastiff?  Not quite.... one Pocket Sized Labrador and his Lurcher puppy.....

It would seem that word of our magnificent bed spread like wildfire.  FH came home and thought that the bed would last us boys a while but told MH in no uncertain terms that I am gonna get much bigger and perhaps we might need an even bigger bed..... MH paled a little at this statement!

To check how comfy our bed was an invader appeared.  FH decided to get in to the bed too...

There was only one thing to do, we all decided to snuggle in and check out the full capacity of this monster bed.... yep, it can take two dogs and a human and I can report that FH thinks it's comfy enough for her boys, in fact she's threatened to move in permanently.

I checked if her nose made a good chew toy.....

I can confirm that it didn't, my Cloth Dog's ears are far superior and taste nicer too.

Alas there was only one thing for it after such a busy day, a nice snooze for everyone.

Sweet Dreams Friends!

Puppy Power!

My ears are out of control.....
Greetings Wooferteers!  It has been quite some time since I've pawed the keyboard away from those long ears but here I am!  Can you believe that I am a whole 4 months old today....life is soooo exciting when you're me.

I've been busy exploring my puppy kingdom and have been making sure that everyone knows I'm in town to stay.  It has been a busy few weeks since I came to live here.

I have been making lots of new friends...

Here I am with my brother Murph, I have called him The Cloth Dog... his ears and jowls are like lovely cloth toys that I can chew on and hang off, he doesn't seem to mind most of the time, occasionally he tells me off when he says I'm being a juvenile delinquent, I heard the humans say that he is the most patient puppy parent possible...

The Cloth Dog says that I am a wriggler in bed and that I need to stop growing as we won't both fit in one bed together (there are two others but I'd rather stay warm with my Cloth Dog hero), sometimes we even wrestle and playfight with each other, lots of growling and chewing but it's all good fun... my Cloth Dog never hurts me.

We have been out and about for loads of fun walks, Cloth Dog has been teaching where to sniff and pee and is trying to teach me the labrador retrieve, I'm doing pretty well but not sure about taking it back, it's much more fun to give everyone the runaround.... I'm so fast they can't catch me...hehehe!

Murph says that I must learn to share and not always try to pinch his ball, I have my own, but I want HIS ball not MY ball.

Look at me I can run sooooo fast!  Wait til I'm all grown, I'll give those mules a run for their money.

When I'm not having fun I'm a busy working dog you know... FH takes me to the office where I am mostly angelic.... I like to be on best behaviour and impress the ladies.  Here I am ensuring that the office furniture is up to the job, oops!

Apart from the ok furniture this is my social heaven, there are so many pups to keep up with and check out not to mention some funny long eared creatures.  FH reckons my gang at work are long suffering as I chew their ears and steal their toys, sharing should apply to toys and ears too I think.

Here's my favourite uncle - Flint!  He is a lovely lurcher just like me and I hope I grow up as handsome as him.  He is teaching me the lurcher wrestle, the hamstring manoeuvre and the joys of stuffed toys.  He's my hero!

Then there's Fizz who's the top dog, she is great to play with but does tell me off sometimes but when no one's looking she rolls around and we snarl and nip and play and I steal her toys, I LOVE her (even if she is a girl...)!!

My other new pal is Cousin Archie (who also comes with my new human friends Uncle and Auntie).  Cousin Archie has been busy teaching me the poo hoover manoeuvre..... yum, cow poo, mmmmm,  now why are the humans shouting again?? Next time Archie and I are going to try to sheep poo hoover manoeuvre... the options are endless and very exciting for a country lurcher!

After a busy day at work there's nothing like a busy game with the Cloth Dog, our current favourite is Whose Bone Is It?  Obviously I always let my brother win this game and then pinch the bone the minute his back is turned ;-)

Finally before bed there's time for a little bit of telly with the humans, I love to watch all those flashing lights and listen to the new things, I particularly like crime dramas at the moment.

Time for bed.... I'm busy perfecting my cute look... I'm rapidly discovering that this works in all situations... will spend as much time doing this as possible.

Night night Wooferteers, til next time - Woof xxx
