A Good Start to 2013!

Life is GOOD!  Oh Muleteers what a perfect way to start 2013!  I peeked out of my stable this morning  to check what weather Mother Nature had sent us and can you believe it... it wasn't raining and the sun was out!

We saw in the new year with no rain and some strange party goers.... the humans decided that the best thing to do before 2012 was out was to wake us up from our slumber (a girl needs beauty sleep you know!), they did bring ample treats though, my favourite was carrots, Roller went beserk for the parsnip and The Mini had to have the banana of course!

The humans are getting old though and were barely awake when midnight tolled, at least this might mean that they're awake enough to do my favourite thing?  Work?  Yipppppppeeeee FH finally arrived with my cowmule gear and tacked me up, off we set up the lane to check out the recently pruned hedges and who should we meet but my boypony Salty and Smiley Human!  Wow do you think Salty will ask me out?  I've got my best cowmule gear on and the most delightful earrings made of mud, surely he can't resist?  Eventually after some polite intros the humans were persuaded that we should all play together (they had no say in the matter... honest!).

We went for a lovely ride together, there are waterfalls sprouting out of every hedge and the rivers and streams were raging but they were no match for Salty and Dragon :-)  We met a very handsome short ears on our ride with the most petrified looking human I have ever seen anywhere, she looked terrified.  She was scaring her poor horse too, I don't understand you humans sometimes..... breathe, relax and stop holding on like a vice.  We know you get scared, you're not mulificent but it's ok, we promise we're not actually trying to kill you.... although I did have a little mule moment with a bike, ooops....  oh well FH stuck tight and we got past the monster, at least FH dropped the reins again and carried on chatting, dumdedum nothing to see here folks, just a slightly confused fire breathing scarey mule monster.... not scared of bikes, honest!! Ooops, best not try that again I might lose my street cred.

Alas it was time to go home and leave my boypony, thanks for a lovely ride! We met MH in the lane on his way back from a walk with the Pocket Sized Labrador, MH is always good for a scratch.  He told me he had been taking some pictures with his camera thingy of where we ride (its a bit wet at the moment but we'll be back soon), here are some of them, they're very pretty aren't they?  Only one thing missing, where's the mule in the picture? Next time MH.

An old droving track on Dartmoor... fit for a mule!
I spy Dartmoor ponies, a newtake, a stone circle and a burial mound, can you?
Soon all this will be green again, the bright green spots in the distance are bogs - beware!
MH even found some of our cousins on the moor enjoying the sun.  This is a Dartmoor Hill pony, not a purebred Dartmoor as they aren't allowed to be broken coloured.  Still pretty though :-)

And look what he found snoozing.... someone looks like they're enjoying the sunshine too, you look a little small to be out in the winter weather friend?

It would appear that someone else was rather enjoying themselves, the Pocket Sized Labrador really is the best at the 'Goofy Dog Smile'!!

Time for getting on with the important things in life after work.... food!  But before that there was just time for a new year's family photo, aren't we mulificent?!

There's always one that wants to be different though isn't there... Roller had ants in his pants.  You'd never make a Cheerleader Roller!

Honestly, those boys are pesky, here's the other one checking that FH has got his best side....

Here's to a mulificent 2013 Muleteers!  I have a good feeling, it's going to be full of tasty morsels, lots of work, cuddles and adventures, care to join us?

But we have told her we have only just arrived here, and we love our field apartment, and our donklet friendly paddock. And our biggest worry is.. can you get ginger biscuits ? She will be ok in the morning , when it was raining yesterday she said something about a place called Australia, but we didnt go there. Anyway we look forward to reading you stories in 2013. non/f mum says you have made her think like a donkey ( took her long enough) love from Ruby&Woody
