Roller's Philosophical Friday: Music

Boom, boom, what a racket!!  This week has been noisy here at Muleteer HQ.  Our FH is a little on the loud side.  This week we have a particularly eclectic mix of music, FH is obviously having an entertaining week..... we can normally tell the mood she's in by the music that is inflicted upon our poor ears, at least mine are short and have a lovely covering of fluff to act as ear plugs but the mules' ears are big and soak up all that noise.  Mind you they make enough noise of their own.....

FH wakes us up before it gets light with the radio and then it's on while she tidies us up, we leg it up the field away from the pounding bass.  We're then allowed some peace while FH goes to her day job, apparently MH says she has managed to blow up two stereos in her previous cars, the current one is working just fine (we can tell by the racket that accompanies the arrival home of FH) but MH despairs, when the stereo is broken it's time to replace the car, forget the engine hey FH?

The evening then continues often with FH's mobile noise box thing that has all manner of tunes blaring out, depending on the mood this can be soft soul music to raucous heavy metal.  MH is much more cultured and plays proper instruments and listens to nice music, we wish he would sort out the racket sometimes, we think he might be glad that FH inflicts the noise on us not him????

Apparently this noise is beneficial, FH says that the combination of us muleteers and the tuneful (??!!) noise is the perfect way to relax after a busy day.  If it keeps her happy guess it's alright?  I think I might understand a little more after reading this quote :-)

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

In case you'd like to share our pain, FH has mainly been listening to....

Animal - Pearl Jam (this is ok as the lyrics say FH would rather spend time with an animal....true!)
Cowboy Take Me Away - Dixie Chicks (Dragon likes this, she'd like a handsome cowboy too)
Fast Fuse - Kasabian (errmmm saying nothing FH.....)
I Need You - Faith Hill and Tim McGraw (that name is familiar?)
I've Got This Friend - Civil Wars (a tuneful song that I like but don't tell anyone)
Lose Yourself - Eminem (some rude words, makes me blush)
No Light, No Light - Florence and the Machine (sounds like Diesel when she's hungry)
Teardrop - Massive Attack (FH reliving her misspent youth?)
Pony - The Waifs (my favourite, a song all about ME!)
Shadows - Gordon Lightfoot (for all our Canadian friends, a big fave of Granny Human)
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica (FH's even worse misspent youth, black hair did not suit....)

What's your favourite tune muleteers? This weekend find something that cheers you up and play it full blast - share it with the neighbours - even if it's only the dog ;-)

  1. At least you don't get the awful racket that my human makes when she is nervous........she does something she calls singing. Not quite what I call it but like you say a good covering of ear fluff is a useful thing to have.

    1. Zoe - we can totally sympathise, FH 'sings' too. Catanian is far better at making noise than FH.... unfortunately FH is louder. FH even sings to Dragon out riding....

    1. We're off to investigate this Christmas music - we like to get in to the muletide swing of things! Glad the pup likes it, a howling Hound Pup would not be good :-)

  4. A Horse witn no Name by America remains a favourite of mine, Roller. I love Latin Jazz, too. There is a great Argentinean saxophonist, Gato ("cat") Barbieri. So now we can say that lady Catanian sings jazz!.

    1. We have told Catanian that she is a jazz supremo, she thinks her miaowling improvisation would be purrfect!

  5. I like Abba's Take a chance but that's probably because my real name is Akehurst Take A Chance! Cyril x p.s. we wake up to Heart radio so at the moment ths involves a lot of Christamas songs which does mean we have to suffer Lynette's singing and head bopping!

    1. Hey Cyril, it's so nice to have you along! We too are having to listen to Heart and it's incessant wailing christmas tunes, human knows all the words and is getting louder as the big day draws near. We'll think of you if you think of us, maybe Lynette and FH could do an Abba duet, FH loves them too.... poor Callie is named after a film.... she shares your despair!
