House Trained Mule

Everyone goes on about house training dogs, cats and kids but what about mules?  We are capable of it you know!  Honestly I think sometimes humans underestimate us.....

I am fully house-trained and trustworthy and leave all of my mule’s gold in neat little piles far away from my bed and food; they are always ready for collection by the chamber maid (aka FH).  Those boys next door make an amazing mess for poor FH every morning; anyone would think they have no manners?  But then I guess they are boys right?  I am the most popular mule ever with my tidy toilet habits.  My bed stays immaculate and I go through fewer shavings than a hamster.  There are occasions when I am not so perfect though.... when it’s driving rain and wind I do resort to the indoor facilities as I don’t like to get my delicate self wet, I’m sure you understand?
My aim is coming along nicely!

The only problem is that the humans STILL won’t let me in the house.... boo!  They don’t think there is such a thing as a kitty mule litter tray..... hmmm well I been thinking and maybe a bucket will do?

So I’m practicing my aim in the bucket in the hope that the humans will let me indoors.... after all what could be better than sharing your house with a pretty, dainty, house trained mule?
Come on humans show some heart you know you’d like me curled up on the sofa in front of the fire :with you, I'm pretty small really :-)

  1. Very cool post. I would never have thought of house training a mule.

    1. Neither would I until I was shown that this one was capable - she sure has a mind of her own!

  2. I love my neat, tidy crew as well. They all three leave their deposits in the far corner of the barn. Now when Gabe was here...I don't think I have ever met a messier horse. He was a bad influence as well, the others all decided that if he was going to make a mess, they might as well too. So much easier now.

    1. Aren't the tidy ones amazing?! The boys are in need of some training.... they are a little bit messy to say the least, but nothing compared to my old gelding who was amazingly messy.... I don't miss that daily chore bless him! Thank goodness for the tidy ones :-)

  3. I wrote a whole long comment and I think it got lost :(
I think Dragon is ready to be an indoor mule. Shy is super neat and tidy, even in the pasture. She uses the far end to do her business. If only the minions and drafts would catch on. . .

    1. Dragon definitely agrees.... she is very keen on sneaking her in the house front door when we ride past. I think the girls are definitely cleaner than the boys, somehow I'm not surprised?! ;-)

    1. Thanks Em! Dragon definitely believes she is impressive.... in fact her ego is rather large, but she's very humble with it ;-)

  5. A pink bathroom for the lady!. Ah, my Muletta Hermosa, you are such a delicate, intelligent and well-mannered girl. If puppy Milo keeps growing steadily, I see no problem in borrowing his bed indoors ;-) Now, do you think that perhaps a blue bathroom would entice the boys next door? ...

Amor y mimos (love and cuddles) to the prettiest of all in that gleaming Cruz del Sur.

    1. That's right my friend! The puppy bed could be just the right size for me, although perhaps I could persuade the humans to buy me a pink one to match my bathroom?! The boys might need more than a blue bathroom..... they are very lazy and like to mark the whole territory of their bedroom, honestly I do wonder? Must be a man thing? I will keep trying to train them.... for FH's sake if nothing else!

Amor y mimos a usted tambiƩn! Hope I have that right :-)

  6. I'm convinced Dragon!!! you might need a little larger bucket though….and there might need to be some planning about where that bucket should reside!!!

    1. This is true, I think it is the fault of the muley litter tray that I haven't quite achieved total targeting ;-) Hmmm FH says she doesn't mind the smell of muley poo so maybe she'd like the bucket in the kitchen?! Can't wait til they let me in the house, can't be long now?!

  7. I've heard the same train of thought from my barn crew! Dorica thinks she is top of the list for living in the house - she has me almost convinced to sell the piano and make an lovely indoor stall for her in the little alcove where the piano now resides ... (actually she's right - it WOULD make a nice stall area!)

    1. See us long ears really do belong in the house.... especially when it's SOOO cold, I could curl up all happy in front of the fire, I would be a 'feature' for the house. I'm sure Dorica would be a good house donkey too, and besides, she only small ;-)

    1. Oooo now the idea of Mini in the house is just to delightful! If only my husband would give in I could see him next to the warm aga in the kitchen happily snacking on carrot peelings and apple cores, he'd make a great house mule.... there may be a disappointed Dragon though!

    1. Yay someone else's human taunts them with singing whilst tidying up too! Secretly Dragon hopes that if she makes it easy for FH to tidy up she might just stop singing a little sooner. Hope your human sounds more like Mariah Carey than ours does... she sounds like an unhappy cat!
